Fast, Private File Transfers Without the Cloud
Need to move files between machines on your network without uploading to Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive? Tired of fighting with SMB share permissions just to send a single file?
Cloudless File Transfer is a portable Windows utility that lets you send files directly between computers on the same local network. No cloud services, no internet connection, no accounts, no server setup. Just run the program on two or more machines, and they find each other automatically.
Simply run the program on any two computers connected to the same network. Within seconds, they discover each other automatically via UDP broadcast. Drag files or folders onto the window and they transfer directly between machines over TCP -- no middleman, no cloud, no waiting. Files never leave your local network.
Who Is This For?
- IT administrators -- Move files between servers, workstations, and air-gapped machines without setting up shares or cloud accounts.
- Office workers -- Send documents, spreadsheets, and presentations to a coworker across the hall in seconds.
- Help desk teams -- Quickly push tools, drivers, or hotfixes to a user's machine during a support session.
- Home users -- Transfer photos, music, and backups between your desktop and laptop without USB drives.
- Security-conscious environments -- Keep sensitive files off the internet entirely; transfers never touch a cloud server.
Key Features
Automatic Peer Discovery
No IP addresses to memorize, no hostnames to type. When you launch Cloudless File Transfer on two machines, they find each other automatically within seconds using local network broadcast.
Drag, Drop, and Send
Select files in the built-in file browser or drag them straight from Windows Explorer onto the drop zone. Folders are supported too -- the entire directory structure is preserved on the receiving end.
Real-Time Progress and Speed
Watch your transfers in real time with a detailed progress bar, transfer speed (MB/s), elapsed time, and file counts. Batch transfers show overall progress with running statistics.
Parallel Multi-Peer Transfers
Sending to three coworkers at once? Each peer gets its own dedicated transfer thread. A slow connection to one machine does not hold up the others.
Sending
- Drag-and-drop files and folders from Windows Explorer
- Built-in file browser with system icons and folder navigation
- Send to all connected peers with one drop
- Recursive folder sending with subfolder structure preserved
- Optional confirmation dialog before sending (shows file counts and peer names)
- Cancel button to stop transfers mid-stream
Receiving
- Incoming files accepted automatically or with confirmation -- your choice
- Configurable default save folder
- Received files list with filename, size, sender, status, and transfer speed
- Session summary with total files, average speed, and elapsed time
- Sortable columns -- click any header to sort ascending or descending
When Files Already Exist
- Overwrite -- always replace the existing file
- Append timestamp -- add a customizable date/time stamp to the filename
- Create backup -- rename the existing file to .bak before saving the new one
Security and Privacy
- Files transfer directly between machines -- they never pass through a server or cloud service
- No internet connection required -- works on fully air-gapped networks
- No accounts, no sign-ups, no telemetry, no tracking
- Received filenames are sanitized to block path traversal attacks
- The program does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data
User Interface
- Clean tabbed layout with Sending and Receiving tabs
- Automatic Firewall -- automatically change firewall settings without Administrator role
- Minimize to system tray with status tooltip (Ready, Sending, Receiving)
- Customizable options dialog with keyboard shortcuts on every control
- Sound notification on transfer complete (optional)
- Status bar with peer count and transfer status
Advanced
- Parallel per-peer transfers -- one thread per destination for maximum throughput
- 1 MB transfer blocks for high-speed LAN performance
- Automatic network change detection -- reconnects when you switch Wi-Fi networks
- Stale peer cleanup -- offline machines disappear from the peer list within seconds
- Tab locking during active transfers prevents accidental navigation
- Configurable idle timeout for receive session boundaries
Fully Portable -- Zero Installation
No Installation Required Runs directly from an .exe file. No setup wizard, no "Next, Next, Finish."
Runs From USB Copy to a flash drive and use on any PC. IT techs carry these on a keychain for on-site support.

Self-Contained Everything the program needs lives in its own folder. No scattered DLLs or AppData clutter.
No Admin Rights Needed Runs under standard user accounts. No UAC prompts, no IT ticket required.
Lightweight Tiny footprint, typically under 1 MB. No frameworks, runtimes, or bloated dependencies.
Instant Startup Launches in under a second. No splash screens, no loading bars, no waiting.
How to Get Started
