RJL System Cleaner checks if any targeted browser is running before cleaning its files. If a browser is open, you will see a dialog with three options:
- Skip -- Skip that browser and clean everything else. The browser files will be left alone.
- Close and Clean -- The app will close the browser, clean its files, then continue. You will need to reopen the browser yourself afterward.
- Cancel -- Stop the entire clean operation.
This check happens for each browser individually. If Chrome is open but Edge is not, you can skip Chrome and still clean Edge.
You can change the default behavior in Settings under "When a browser is running" -- you can set it to always skip, always ask, or always close automatically.
Browser files are locked by the operating system while the browser is running, so they physically cannot be deleted while the browser is open. This is a Windows limitation, not a bug in the app.
