How do custom cleaner rules work in RJL System Cleaner?

Custom cleaner rules are a registered feature that lets you define your own file and folder targets for cleaning beyond the built-in categories. This is useful for cleaning application-specific data, development build folders, or any recurring junk files unique to your workflow.

Each custom rule specifies:

  • Target path -- The folder to scan, with optional wildcards (for example: C:\Projects\*\build\* or %TEMP%\MyApp_*)
  • File pattern -- Which files to match (for example: *.log, *.tmp, or * for everything)
  • Age filter -- Optionally only target files older than a certain number of days
  • Safety rating -- You assign a rating (Safe, Caution, or Review) to your custom rule

Custom rules appear in the sidebar under a "Custom" category and are scanned and cleaned alongside the built-in cleaners. They follow all the same safety rules -- file preview, confirmation, exclusion list checking, and logging.

Custom cleaner rules require registration ($19.99 one-time). Register at RJL System Cleaner.
