For most users, running RJL System Cleaner once a week or once every two weeks is plenty. Browser caches and temporary files build up steadily with normal computer use, and cleaning every week or two keeps things tidy without being excessive.
Some specific situations where you might run it more often:
- Before a system backup -- Clean junk first so your backup is smaller and faster
- When your hard drive is getting full -- Browser caches alone can consume multiple gigabytes
- After uninstalling software -- Applications often leave behind temp files and cache data
- On a shared computer -- Clean privacy traces after your session
- Before giving away or selling a computer -- Deep clean with all privacy options enabled
There is no harm in running it daily if you prefer. The app only deletes files that are safe to remove, and it creates a System Restore point each time for extra safety.
If you register, you can set up scheduled automatic cleaning so the app runs on its own -- daily, weekly, or monthly.
