What is the Windows Messenger service?
The Windows Messenger service (not to be confused with Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger) is a built-in Windows network service that handles the delivery of net send messages across a local network. Net Send Lite uses this existing service to send and receive messages, which means no client software needs to be installed on recipient machines -- if the Messenger service is running, messages are delivered instantly.
