I get an error about the "mci device" and "mmsystem", what is that?

TrayCD uses internal Windows system controls to handle the CD-ROM. This library comes from "mmsystem". If Windows has problems detecting, interacting or communicating with your CD-ROM device, you could get a host of errors. If TrayCD has problems working with your CD-ROM, then Windows also has a problem. Most of these issues can be resolved by simply rebooting the machine. Some CD-R writers obtain a lock on the CD device which blocks Windows and TrayCD from gaining access to it.

Sometimes you can encounter this error because Windows does not detect your CD-ROM as a device. If you are getting this error with TrayCD, please check "My Computer" to see if it detects your CD-ROM as a device. If your CD-ROM is not found, then there is a system level problem with your CD-ROM Device. We suggest re-installing the device driver for your cd.
