Will the victim know it is a prank right away?

The one-minute delay before the first appearance means you have time to leave the scene. When Clippy first pops up, the victim will be confused. When he keeps coming back with increasingly absurd messages and no visible close button, confusion turns to frustration. Most people will not immediately realize it is a standalone prank program -- they may think they accidentally installed some adware or browser extension.
