Keep Your Desktop Background Always Interesting
Tired of staring at the same desktop wallpaper day after day? If you have a folder full of photos, downloaded wallpapers, or background images sitting unused on your hard drive, Random Wallpaper Changer puts them to work. Point it at any directory containing JPEG, JPG, or BMP files and it will automatically rotate your desktop background at whatever interval you choose -- every few seconds, every few minutes, or anything in between.
The selection is 100% random. If you have 100 background images in a directory, Random Wallpaper Changer will randomly select from all of them, so you get a fresh desktop every time you look. With subdirectory scanning enabled, there is no limit to the number of image files available to the rotation, so you could have a different wallpaper every time you turn around.
This is the ideal solution for anyone who cannot stand having the same boring desktop background. Random Wallpaper Changer runs quietly from the Windows system tray, out of your way until you need it. Right-click the tray icon to access setup, change your wallpaper immediately, or close the application. Use the built-in Wallpaper Preview feature to browse files within each directory before selecting them, so you know exactly what images are available.
Key Features
Auto-Rotation
Set custom intervals in minutes or seconds. Your wallpaper changes automatically at the schedule you choose. Set it and forget it -- your desktop stays fresh all day.
Display Modes
Choose how images are displayed: tiled, centered, stretched, fit, or fill. On Windows 7 and higher, the Fit and Fill options maintain your image's aspect ratio for the best possible look.
Subdirectory Scanning
Include subdirectories when scanning for wallpaper files. Point to a top-level folder and every subfolder is automatically included. Your entire image library becomes available for rotation.
System Tray
Runs quietly from the Windows system tray, completely out of your way. Right-click the icon for setup, wallpaper changes, or to close the application.
Change Now
Can't wait for the timer? Right-click the tray icon and choose "Change Wallpaper Now" to instantly switch to the next random wallpaper on demand.
Wallpaper Preview
Preview wallpaper files within the setup screen before committing to a directory. See what's in each folder first so you know exactly what to expect.
How to Get Started
- Download and run -- Extract the ZIP file and run the application. Random Wallpaper Changer appears in your Windows system tray.
- Choose your image folder -- Right-click the tray icon, choose Setup, and select the directory containing your wallpaper images. Enable "Include Subdirectories" if your images are organized in subfolders.
- Set the interval -- Choose how often you want the wallpaper to change, in minutes or seconds. Pick your preferred display mode (tile, center, stretched, fit, or fill).
- Start on Windows boot -- Check the "Add to Windows Startup" option in the setup screen so Random Wallpaper Changer runs automatically every time you start your computer.
Tips
- Supported formats -- Random Wallpaper Changer supports JPG, JPEG, and BMP image files. Point it at a folder with any mix of these formats and it will find them all.
- Best display mode -- For high-resolution photos, use "Fit" or "Fill" mode (Windows 7+) to maintain the original aspect ratio. "Stretched" will fill the screen but may distort your images.
- Settings are saved immediately -- Starting in v2.01, your settings are saved as soon as you click Save in the setup dialog. No need to worry about losing changes if Windows shuts down unexpectedly.
